Month by month detail
January
Brisbane, 20 – 22 January 2006. Competitors' ages ranged from 9 to 81. Winner was Sena Lee, the sister of the world #1 player Sedol Lee of Korea. Guess the Stones winner – Yiming Guo. Report includes relevant sentences "We already subsidise the New Zealand entrants, rightly so in my opinion, and after talking to Graeme Parmenter, the newly elected Secretary of the NZ Go Society, I believe we can attract more entrants from across the Tasman in future events with some increased subsidy. ... Two players attended from New Zealand – Mr Graeme Parmenter 4 dan, and Mr Ciaran Pearson 5 dan, and both turned in creditable performances in their relative divisions. ... Since the winner of Division 1 is not a citizen of the Oceania area, the second placed entrant, Mr. Yiming Guo, will be the Oceania representative in the next round of playoffs. The Division 1 winner, Mrs. Sena Lee, was unknown to Australian go, but definitely under–ranked at 6 dan." And there were two NZ citizens resident in Oz competing.
