2009 Wellington Open
From go.org.nz
Venue: Inverlochy Art School, 3 Inverlochy Place, Te Aro, Wellington Saturday, 21st of November Sunday, 22nd of November
We had an exciting tournament. The tournament was, unsurprisingly, won by NZ champion Kevin Lui, who won all 5 games. Ken Xie came second, winning 3.5 games after losing to Kevin and drawing with Barry Phease. Four people were tied on 3 points in third place, Corrin Lakeland, William Nash, Edwin Phease and Du Shiyong. William received the prize for 3rd as he had very good SOS, losing only to Kevin and Ken. Also attending were Yucong Phease, Susan Li, Barry Phease, Hourdur, Teru Yanagihashi and in the kyu section, Tristan Phease and Allan Johnson. Tristan won the kyu section, with 3.5 games out of 6 (an extra game was held as a tie-breaker).
