Barry Phease
From go.org.nz
|
Barry Phease is a Wellington region Go player and has been its champion. In earlier times he was New Zealand champion and won more than one title in Auckland and at least one in Christchurch and two in Dunedin.
He has been the country's representative at WAGC at least five times and has given several years' service as NZGS President or Treasurer, with substantial contributions to newsletters and other writing and administrative work.
Barry's family shares his interest. His wife Yucong also has an enviable record of wins, ranking history, and service to the society, while Edwin and Tristan have results that belie their youth. His eldest son Leon was also a go player and lost a go kichi challenge with barry by the narrow 3-2 margin
