NZGS 2024 NZ Open Go Championship announcement
Dear Go Players,
The 2024 NZ Open will be held on Saturday and Sunday October 26 & 27 in Auckland, at the SASIT building 250 Gt South Rd Greenlane.
You can participate in person (which we think is best) or online (using the OGS server). Any Go player can participate in person, however playing online is only offered to New Zealand Citizens and permanent resident holders.
Provided there are sufficient entries there will be three divisions: Open, Division 2 and Handicap
- The Open division is intended for strong players (however it is open and anyone can enter) and the winner will be the New Zealand Champion
- Division 2 is intended for mid level players, only players 1 dan or below in strength are eligible
- The Handicap division is intended for weaker players and people wanting faster, less serious games. Games will be short and and will all be played on Sunday. (Strong players are welcome - they will just have to give large handicaps)
We are finalising sponsorship details, so the tournament invitation is not able to be sent yet. As soon as everything is set we will send it and open registration.
