NZGC 2019 in Wellington

The New Zealand Go Championship is on the horizon and registrations are now open. The Wellington Go Club will be hosting the event and you can now sign up by following this link:

Date: 31st August and 1st September 2019
Location: Rooms 118 and 119 of the Cotton Building, Victoria University of Wellington
Cost : $30 for adults and $20 for students (and those under 18 years of age). 

The McMahon system will be used to make pairings between players. Depending on the number or registrations we will decide on the day whether or not we will have separate pools for players of different skill levels. New Zealand rules will be in effect (of course), and the time system will be Fischer time control, 40 minutes main time, plus 15 seconds per move. The time control was decided to allow for longer games and easy scheduling.

Lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the day, and is included in the cost of the registration. Lunch will consist of "make-your-own" rolls, sandwiches, and paninis. Snacks will consist of fruit, homemade baking, and tea/coffee/milo etc. If this is not to your taste please prepare your own food for the tournament.

We are also arranging to meet up for dinner at a local restaurant on the Saturday night. The restaurant is yet to be chosen, but it is likely to be Asian themed. To keep things simple, attendees will pay for themselves for whatever they order (the registration fee does not cover this dinner).

For those coming from outside of Wellington, you are invited to stay with local players. Please let us know well in advance if you want to do this. We will do our best to accommodate, but you may need to be prepared to find your own accommodation if we do not have enough spaces.
